Oprah’s Cocker Spaniel Puppy Dies From Parvovirus

Oprah Winfrey debuted her cocker spaniel pup Sadie to fans on March 6. Sadie is now fighting parvovirus, which killed her littermate Ivan.

As Cocker Spaniels, Tom and I are saddened to hear the news about young Ivan and hope for the best for young Sadie who is still fighting for her life from a parvovirus attack. We wish Oprah to know that young Sadie is in our prayers - long may she dig and swim!

Sadie and littermate Ivan were adopted by Winfrey earlier this month from PAWS Chicago. A few days later, Ivan began displaying symptoms of parvovirus and died. Sadie immediately began undergoing treatment at a suburban veterinary clinic. Tuesday was the first day that she was considered in stable condition.

Sadie and Ivan were part of an 11-puppy litter born Dec. 15. One dog died shortly after birth, three were placed in homes, and seven went to PAWS. Of that seven, only Sadie and Ivan were diagnosed with the virus. The other five, placed in foster care or adoptive homes by PAWS, are doing fine”
